A Sun-Drenched Engagement at Cameron Park: Sophia + Luke


When a couple tells me they work at a marina together and spend their free time picnicking in the woods, I know we are in for a gorgeous, nature-filled session. Cameron Park in Waco, TX, was the perfect choice for Sophia and Luke’s engagement photos. With its towering trees, winding trails, and quiet river views, it provided the "private sanctuary" vibe these two introverts needed to really let their personalities shine.


A Love Story Built on Support and Scenery

Sophia and Luke met at work during their early college years, and over the last three years, they have grown side-by-side. What I love most about their relationship is the balance they strike—they are "goofy" and love to joke around, but they are also deeply attuned to each other’s needs. Whether they are navigating the busy season at the marina or pursuing their individual career goals, they are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.


Embracing the "Adventurous" Vibe

Since they were a bit nervous about professional photos (having not done them since high school!), we focused on movement to keep things feeling natural. Because they were more comfortable in a park setting than a busy downtown area, they were able to be "bold" with their affection.


We captured it all:


  • The Goofy Side: Yes, we did the piggyback rides! Their "fun and flirty" energy made for some of my favorite candid shots.
  • The Deep Connection: Utilizing their love languages of physical touch and words of affirmation, we found quiet moments under the canopy for those soulful, romantic portraits.
  • The Greenery: Sophia mentioned being attracted to the way I edit greenery, so we made sure to use the lush textures of Cameron Park to create that "stunning" look she loved from my portfolio.


From the Trails to the Arboretum

While Cameron Park is a special place for their weekend hangouts, the next chapter of their story will take place at the Pavilion at Carleen Bright Arboretum. It’s clear that these two have a heart for the outdoors, and their wedding day is sure to be just as joyful and scenic as their engagement session.


Sophia and Luke are planning to preserve these memories in a bespoke wedding album, ensuring that in 20 years, they can look back and feel that exact same "outdoor fun" joy they felt on this sunny afternoon in Waco.
