An Iconic Dallas Engagement at Hotel Crescent: Makinzie + Kase
There is something about the Hotel Crescent in Dallas that feels like a scene straight out of a classic romance movie. With its stunning French Renaissance-style architecture and upscale courtyard, it was the perfect location for Makinzie and Kase’s engagement session.
As we walked through the grounds, it was easy to see why these two chose this spot. The backdrop is grand, but their love—built on years of long distance and big life moves—is what truly stole the show.
Love That Goes the Distance
Makinzie and Kase have a story that is defined by "choosing each other." From navigating the challenges of a long-distance relationship in their first year to moving five hours away from family for school, they’ve faced the trials of transition together. Those experiences have shaped them into a couple that values the simple things: quality time, movies, and the art of making each other laugh.
Authentic Connection over "Staged Smiles"
One of the first things Makinzie told me was that she didn’t just want "staged smiles." She wanted to look back at these photos in 20 years and show their future children that true love is visible through a lens. Because Kase is more of an introvert and Makinzie is a mix of both, we focused on natural, comfortable poses that highlighted their specific love languages—physical touch and quality time. Instead of forced "piggyback rides," we leaned into deep, soulful, and romantic shots. We captured those quiet moments where they are simply looking at one another, letting their genuine chemistry do all the talking.
From the Big D to Wichita Falls
While we spent the afternoon soaking up the Dallas skyline and the elegant corners of the Crescent, this is just the beginning of their journey! These two are headed to Coyote Ranch in Wichita Falls, Texas, for their upcoming wedding.
It was such a joy to be the one to give them their very first professional photoshoot experience. They were naturals! We captured a beautiful mix of everything:
- The "Look": Those classic shots of Kase admiring Makinzie.
- The Fun: Flirty, laughing moments that show their "fun and loving" dynamic.
- The Soul: Deeply romantic portraits that will look incredible as custom wall art in their home.
Planning Your Dallas Engagement?
Makinzie and Kase found me through Zola, and I am so glad they did! My goal is always to provide work that is "authentic and unique," just like the couples I photograph. If you’re looking for a session that feels like you and not just a Pinterest board, I’d love to chat.
Congratulations, Makinzie and Kase! I can't wait to see you both again at Coyote Ranch!
