It’s not just a luxury hotel; it’s a total transportive experience. The moment you pull up the drive, you’re no longer in North Texas—you’ve been whisked away to a Spanish Colonial oasis, or perhaps a chic retreat in Santa Barbara or Cabo. For a photographer, it is absolute paradise.

The property is situated on 60 rolling acres by the Brazos River, offering that coveted sense of privacy and tranquility. You can feel the intentionality behind every detail, from the pristine landscaping to the gentle music floating through the air. As a Texas wedding photographer, I am always on the hunt for backdrops that elevate my clients' photos. The architecture at La Palmilla did not disappoint. The resort is a masterpiece of Spanish Colonial Revival style.


We spent hours exploring the grounds, finding magic around every corner:


Stucco Arches and Walls: The buildings feature classic, minimalist white stucco. It creates a clean, stark, and undeniably high-end look that makes portrait subjects pop. It’s perfect for capturing that airy, sophisticated aesthetic.


Saltillo Tiles and Natural Textures: Imported rustic Saltillo tiles, warm wood accents, and wrought iron detailing add depth, culture, and richness to the composition.


Lush Gardens: The gardens seamlessly blend desert and oasis elements. We found incredible spots among the palms, bougainvillea, and manicured walking trails, providing a beautiful organic contrast to the structured buildings.


The variety here is unmatched. You can move from a clean, architectural portrait in a courtyard to a soft, romantic moment surrounded by greenery in just a few steps.


Love at Golden Hour: Lauren + Eli’s Session

Of course, the most beautiful part of the day was the love between Lauren and Eli. They were so naturally joyful, relaxed, and clearly thrilled to be celebrating this chapter. La Palmilla provided the perfect, intimate stage for their story.


As the sun began to set, casting a warm, golden glow over the property’s bell tower and the surrounding pastoral landscape, the atmosphere became almost magical. The "Texas Golden Hour" hits differently when it's illuminating stunning architecture and a couple as in love as these two.


Every shot felt like a page from a high-end editorial, but completely grounded in their genuine connection.
