A Timeless Traditional Wedding at Holy Trinity Catholic Church: Laura + Pedro
There is something profoundly moving about a wedding held in a historic sanctuary. Laura and Pedro’s ceremony at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas, TX was a masterclass in tradition, faith, and deep connection. With a bridal party of 12 and a guest list full of loved ones, the day was an emotional journey that I was so honored to document.
The Importance of the "First Look" (Trust Your Photographer!)
If there is one piece of advice I can give to any bride, it’s this: Trust your photographer’s professional eye for timing. When Laura and I first started planning, she was a bit hesitant about doing a First Look. She loved the idea of a traditional reveal at the altar, but as we looked at the winter timeline and the late ceremony start, I knew we were racing against the sun. I kept gently reminding her: "Once that mass is over, it’s going to be dark outside."
It was a tough decision for her, but Laura ultimately listened and trusted my expertise. And thank goodness she did! We were able to capture all of their stunning, Light + Airy portraits in the beautiful natural light of the afternoon. By the time the ceremony ended and they walked out of the church as husband and wife, it was pitch black outside. Because she trusted the process, she didn't miss out on those glowing outdoor shots that she will cherish forever in her wedding album.
Meaningful Moments and Global Connections
Family was the heartbeat of this wedding. Because Laura’s sister was unable to travel from Venezuela, we made sure to capture a truly special moment: a FaceTime call where they could share the joy of the day across borders.
The ceremony itself was filled with personal touches that made it unique to Laura and Pedro:
- The Music: Laura’s best friend sang during the service, and in a beautiful moment of connection, both Laura and Pedro joined in singing at the church.
- The Family: Their nephew served as the ring bearer, bringing a sweet, youthful energy to the traditional proceedings.
- The Vibe: With a Spanish-speaking family and a father who isn't the biggest fan of the camera, we worked quickly and efficiently to get high-quality family portraits in a short amount of time, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and included.
A Soulful, Romantic Celebration
Laura and Pedro share a love language of words of affirmation, and that sentiment was felt throughout the entire day. Whether it was the deep, soulful glances during the ceremony or the fun, laughing moments during the reception with their 70 guests, their connection was undeniable.
The reception featured beautiful uplighting that transformed the space, providing a modern contrast to the historic church ceremony. From the "First Touch" moments to the final dance, Laura and Pedro wanted to look back in 20 years and remember this as the day they felt the most connected—and I think these photos do exactly that.
Congratulations, Laura and Pedro! Your wedding was a beautiful testament to faith, family, and the power of trusting the vision.
