Some couples walk into their engagement session and you immediately feel their energy. That was exactly the case with Laura and James. Their relationship is full of laughter, warmth, and the kind of effortless connection that makes photographing them feel completely natural.
From the moment we started their engagement session, it was obvious that these two simply enjoy being together. They laugh easily, they encourage each other, and they genuinely look at one another like they’ve found their favorite person.
And according to them—that’s exactly what they are.
A Relationship Built on Balance
When Laura described their relationship, she said something that really stood out to me:
“We love to have fun and laugh. We balance each other very well. We are each other’s favorite person.”
That sense of balance is something you can see immediately when they’re together. Some couples bring calm, others bring energy—but Laura and James bring both. Their personalities complement one another in such a natural way that being together simply feels easy.
They’ve learned how to communicate, support each other, and approach life as a team. Like every couple, they’ve had a few disagreements along the way, but they’ve always worked through them together.
And honestly, that kind of teamwork is one of the most beautiful foundations for a marriage.
From Online Match to Forever
Laura and James’ story began the way many modern love stories do—they met online.
But what started as a simple connection quickly turned into something deeper. Early in their relationship, they both realized they were looking for the same things in life and in love.
Their past experiences helped them understand what truly mattered to them in a partner. Because of that, they approached their relationship with clarity and intention from the beginning.
Today, they describe their life together in the simplest and sweetest way:
“Life is easy with him because we balance each other out.”
Life Together
When they’re not planning their wedding, Laura and James enjoy doing what many couples love most—simply spending time together.
They love trying new restaurants, traveling, cooking meals at home, experimenting with new cocktails, and discovering new wines together. But just as importantly, they cherish time with the people who matter most to them—family and friends.
Their love languages are quality time and acts of service, which explains why their relationship feels so steady and supportive. They naturally show up for each other, whether it’s through shared experiences or thoughtful gestures.
A Fun, Candid Engagement Session
One of the things Laura mentioned when she first reached out was that she loves candid photography. She wanted images that felt natural and joyful, while still having just enough direction to capture beautiful moments.
That’s exactly the kind of storytelling I love to create.
Their engagement session was filled with movement, laughter, quiet moments, and playful energy. While we skipped the piggyback rides, they were completely open to trying fun poses and embracing the moment together.
And the result? Photos that feel genuine, romantic, and full of life.
When I asked how they want to feel when they look back at their engagement photos years from now, Laura said:
“I want us to look happy, in love, and like we had fun.”
Mission accomplished.
Their Wedding at Century Hall
Laura and James will be saying “I do” at the beautiful Century Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. It’s a wonderful venue for couples who want a classic and elegant celebration surrounded by the people they love most.
With their joyful personalities and strong connection, I have no doubt their wedding day will be filled with laughter, meaningful moments, and a dance floor that stays full all night long.
How They Found Rae De Lain
One of my favorite parts of their story is how they found me. Laura’s sister discovered my work through a referral on Facebook and shared it with her.
Laura told me that what stood out most was the coloring and editing style in my photos. My goal is always to create imagery that feels timeless, light-filled, and true to the emotion of the day.
Knowing that those details resonated with them made their engagement session even more meaningful.
Fort Worth Engagement Photography
Engagement sessions are one of my favorite parts of the wedding experience. They give couples a chance to slow down, enjoy this season together, and capture the excitement before the wedding day arrives.
For Laura and James, their session was exactly that—a celebration of their friendship, their laughter, and the life they’re building together.
And if the way they laugh together is any indication of the future, their marriage will be filled with joy.
