Stepping Into Something New: An Indian-Inspired Engagement Session at The Olana
As an East TX wedding photographer, I’ve photographed so many beautiful love stories—but this session was a first for me in the best possible way.
My very first Indian-inspired engagement session, and it happened in one of the most iconic places in Texas… The Olana.
From the moment my couple stepped out—dressed in stunning, rich colors that glowed against the European-style backdrop—I knew this was going to be special. There was beauty, elegance, and culture woven into every moment. And when I say this couple was gorgeous… I mean stop-you-in-your-tracks, can’t-take-a-bad-photo gorgeous. Their chemistry was effortless, joyful, and so full of life.
But here’s the part that stretched me in the best way:
Our session was in the evening.
If you know me, you know I’m a light-filled, airy photographer who lives for natural glow. Flash isn’t normally my go-to. But this time?
I stepped out of my comfort zone—and I am SO glad I did.
The images turned out bold, dramatic, romantic, and breathtaking. The Olana’s architecture lit up behind them like a scene from a cinematic romance. Their outfits shimmered. Their laughter illuminated the night. And the flash? It wasn’t a deal breaker at all. In fact… I might even be obsessed now.
Honestly… are nighttime engagement sessions about to become a thing? Because I’m ready. 😂✨
This session reminded me that sometimes the best creativity is found in the stretch—in saying “yes,” in showing up, and in trusting that new things can be beautiful.
To my gorgeous couple: thank you for inviting me into your culture, your joy, and your love story. You helped me create something magical, and I’ll never forget it.
