Faith and Reuben’s wedding at The Cottonwood Barn was nothing short of extraordinary—a beautiful weaving together of faith, family, and rich Messianic tradition. From the moment you stepped onto the property, there was a sense that this day was set apart. The soft, romantic tones of dusty blue paired effortlessly with the deep navy worn by the groomsmen, creating an atmosphere that felt both timeless and refined. Every detail reflected intention, but what stood out most was the heart behind it all.
This wedding was especially meaningful to me because I had the honor of capturing it alongside my best friend Joy, for her own sister, Faith. There’s something deeply special about photographing a wedding where you’re not just a vendor, but also part of the story. You could feel the love, not just between Faith and Reuben, but radiating from every direction—especially when you realized just how big and beautiful their families are. Both sides have 13 children each, which made for the largest bridal party I have ever photographed—over 30 people standing beside them. It was breathtaking, joyful, and honestly, such a testament to legacy, unity, and the blessing of family.
One of the most beautiful aspects of their day was the incorporation of Messianic Jewish traditions, each one carrying deep meaning and symbolism. As the ceremony began, guests witnessed the bride circling the groom seven times. This tradition is incredibly significant—it represents completeness, protection, and the creation of a new spiritual home. Just as the world was created in seven days, these seven circles symbolize the foundation of a new life being built together under God.
Another powerful moment was the signing of the ketubah. The ketubah is more than just a document—it is a covenant. It outlines the groom’s commitment and responsibilities to his bride, and in Messianic weddings, it reflects not only love but also a deep spiritual promise before God. Watching it be signed was such an intimate and sacred moment, a quiet pause before the celebration continued.
And of course, the ceremony concluded with the breaking of the glass—a moment many recognize, but not everyone fully understands. As Reuben stepped on the glass, it served as a reminder that even in the midst of great joy, we remember the brokenness of the world and the need for redemption. It’s also a declaration: from that moment forward, their lives are forever changed, and their covenant cannot be undone. Immediately following, the crowd erupted with joy, shouting “Mazel Tov!”—a celebration of new beginnings.
Faith and Reuben’s wedding wasn’t just beautiful—it was deeply meaningful. It was a day rooted in faith, overflowing with family, and filled with traditions that pointed back to something so much greater. Being there to capture it all, especially alongside someone so dear to me, is something I will never forget. This is what I love most about what I do—telling stories that feel like a love letter, not just between two people, but between generations, faith, and legacy. 🤍
